Louis Vierne - The Bells of Hinckley - Saint Ouen

The final piece in Louis Vierne's 24 Pieces de Fantasie, recorded on the most magical instrument in the world. I didn't see this recording anywhere else and I felt I had to share. I don't own anything, much less this recording.

Full Symphony - ruclips.net/user/view_play_list?p=C0CAF81A73702EBD Charles-Marie Widor's Ninth Organ Symphony, 'Gothique.' The first of Widor's two final symphonies in a newer, much more instrospective format that focused more on cyclical themes. Performed by Frederic Ledroit on the 1845 Cavaille-Coll Grande Orgue l'eglise de La Madeleine. I don't own anything, much less this recording.

Powerful
Gorgeous Now and Forever!!!❤❤❤
I was visiting the Cathedral on a Saturday afternoon in 1978 and out of the blue, the organist decided to play this as a practice piece - it had always been a special piece of music for me and on this day, I was transported and felt it was meant to be
Absolutnie niesamowite, wykonanie mega sztos.
This this this piece! Gives me chills. I just got an organ and it is my every day practice. Recording it for my funeral -my husband better carry me out of the church to it!!!!!! I might come back and take him with me if he does not honor my wishes!!!! Lol.
Excellent
Outstanding performance. The sound quality was soooo good. Thank you!
Un moment intense , que du bonheur .
This might be the best thing I’ve ever heqrd
Olivier Latry never disappoints!
Sensationnel je voudrais pue on joue ça à mon enterrement
Wild and beautiful!!❤
It took me ages to find out what this piece of music was called, I've always loved it. Now I can listen to it all the time.😊
The only time we get to hear this part of the piece is when the royal family use it as a recessional at royal events that capture the huge sound.
Mighty and Wonderful Music ❤❤❤
This, in my opinion, is one of the greatest organ performances ever uploaded to this website. I've been listening to it for years. I'm not sure if it's Latry's playing, the organ, the acoustics of the building, the microphone setup, or a combination of all of the above, but nothing else comes close. It's so unbelievably clear, I swear I can hear every single pipe. Incredible.
I’m holding out for “All of the above” 🙂
This recording was made in 1988 on the BNL label in France. The organ pipework had been cleaned before the recording so was in good condition. The recording was made after midnight to avoid any outside noises. The performer is Olivier Latry. The BNL recordings of the organ in 1988 are important as they capture the instrument before all the changes of the rebuild in 1992. Hope that information helps.
This is my favorite performance of this piece; the best pace, the best arrangement. E Power Biggs is good. Some play it too slow, Dianne Bish played it like it was a race. I imagine this instrument was lost in the fire. Thanks for sharing.
It wasn’t, actually! It was saved from the fire, although a little wet. It was completely restored, and is currently being reinstalled back into the cathedral.
Hands down my favourite rendition of this piece for many years.
Very good.
Probably the best performance. You feel and see the vast space the bells are surrounded with. The waves of bell sounds which are spreading around are feeling so natural, so huge, so impressive and colossal that it is a real tribute because the speed is perfect!
Insane! The sound production is overwhelming!! Thankyou Oliver!!!!I
Majestic and great sound ! In Rouen Ouen Kalevi Kiviniemi plays this too...I would say even more grand there. That organ really thunders.
Classic sortie de messe à Port Marly
Good on you for making the most of the pedal stops. Widor’s Tocatta without the pedal stops being let rip really ruins it for me!!
This song was played as my class proceeded out of the auditorium after our high school graduation. From the stage, the back doors were thrown open and you could see the trees and the garden through the auditorium, through the hallway outside, from the stage. I was one of the last people to exit and between hearing this music and seeing that little square of green get bigger and bigger as I walked towards what felt like the entire green earth through that square, I almost cried. It gave me chills. So triumphant and at turns agonized, or maybe that's just how I felt.
I love this organ (Cavaillé Coll famous manufacturer) and I love Notre-Dame and Paris where I was born. Did you know that this fantastic organ is old and modern at the same time because It is computurized since 1986. It can even play alone ! And every session can be recorded. Like that the organist can listen it' s own work and improve it. Now I am waiting the renaissance of our favorite cathedral as every Parisians and the concerts coming with it and the masses too.
This is much too fast a tempo. Technically impressive, but at the expense of the solemnity of the piece. Enjoyable nonetheless.
This works the same as morning caffeine. If you stand in a cathedral or synagogue and hear the full aid of it being played in person, you know what full sound feels like in your body. It's medicine AND art, and gives your brain a neurological supercharge.
Fabulous
I can do it faster. Hang on and let me put some WD40 on my fingers...
Massive walls of electric sound. THAT is rock 'n' roll, my friends.
This is a pipe organ, not electric.
I remember Trevor Webb my choirmaster sometimes playing this at the end of communion. You could see into the organ loft and people used crowd round just staring in awe. I’m now 40 and this memory goes back to me being 9 years old. I loved this piece ever since 🙂
This is how you know the French organ mighty and simply great UNIQUE
All I can say that every time I hear this piece of music it always moves me to tears. It is royal, so magnificent! I think the man who composed this piece and who performed it must have received their source from God. I want it played as the last piece at my funeral. It is the beginning of my journey to see God.
Amen to that. P.S. Please don’t mind my accidental dislike.
Yes, and for me Ste, Seans organ symphony.
It has nothing to do with God. Human genius and a lifetime steeped in organ music.
"...To each servant gave he talents. To one 5, to another 2, and to the last 1." In the case of Widor He gave unto him 6 !

Love this - was lucky enough to have a friend who could play it on our local church organ as the recessional for our wedding. So joyous - such celebration.
Too fast...
No it’s just right. That’s how everyone plays
The Majesty of the Lord will come back in Notre-Dame in 2024 with this Toccata.
Simply glorious.
This just fuels further my insatiable fascination for French Romanticism.Truly amazing! I'm learning the piece rightaway!
❤
To GOD BE THE GLORY
